Is this a liberal, progressive, leftist organization?

No. Project REAL does not support one party over another. We believe that we need more than two parties. With only two parties, politicians don’t really have to listen to what the voters want. If you feel that Project REAL is leaning one way or the other, please read about bothsiderism here. We are all here because the current system is broken, and both parties contributed to the current moment. Unfortunately, one side is more responsible.

What about MAGA?

MAGA actually helped inspire Project REAL. Many people who support (or supported) MAGA feel left out of the American Dream or worried that their children won’t be able to achieve the same level of success. They are not wrong in that feeling. We feel they are wrong about the causes. Kicking down and blaming others in similar situations does not really improve anything for anyone. It just keeps us from finding real solutions that enhance ALL Americans’ situation. There is more than enough to go around.

Is Project REAL anti-Trump?

The short answer is, Yes. The longer answer is that Project REAL is pro-democracy and the rule of law. An honest assessment of the actions of the current administration points to an approaching authoritarian form of government. If Biden had done the same types of things - masked men grabbing American citizens off the street and accepting a $400 million plane from a foreign government and spending nearly $1 billion to refurbish it - we would say the same thing. There are plenty of criticisms of the Democratic Party to be had, but they aren’t in power. Project REAL is for multiple parties.

Are you trying to find the middle ground between Republicans and Democrats?

No. Project REAL isn’t centrist. “Centrist” usually means splitting the difference between two-party positions. We reject that frame. We expand the conversation beyond left–right team sports so voters can judge policies by outcomes—not sound bites: safer communities, fair elections, better health, lower costs. We also support a healthier multi-party democracy to widen real choices and accountability.
